Continuing Education & Workshops

At Angel City Body Kinetics

1. Alumni Open Collaborative will be Mondays from 12:30 to 2pm. This new session is for LBDC alumni already certified and interested in meeting or networking with other LBDC alumni to sharpen their LBDC teaching skills, share movement variations amongst themselves, and maintain their Pilates physique. The format is such that alumni take turns teaching a Pilates sequence, so that the teaching is shared by all. This is a collaborative effort and everyone benefits.
   
   We will start the collaborative Monday, March 29th. You may reserve a spot by calling in 310.721.7200. Attendance is limited to 6 (first come first serve and a modest donation is requested for the session moderator).
   
   
2. Study Practice and Self Integration: Self Integration will be scheduled for Tuesday & Thursday between 2 to 5pm. There is no charge for this new session as this is a benefit provided to LBDC alumni working towards their certification and wanting the opportunity to obtain self integration hours. You may self integrate alone, in pairs, or in a group.
   We will start this program Tuesday, March 30th. The time will be divided into 2 time blocks:
   
   • Block 1 - 2PM - 3:30PM
   • Block 2 - 3:30PM  -5PM
     
     Space is limited to 6 students per block on a first come, first serve and a reservation is required. Practice material for each student needs to be typed in the Pilates Protocol Form found here. This form is provided to allow proper preparation for efficient use of your time during your practice. It can then be signed off by the front desk.

Professional Training & Education at LBDC:

1. Collaborative Efforts: We are very please to announce the new collaborative efforts of LBDC and BBU. The training launched in February, and LBDC is now an official host-site for Balanced Body University Teachers' Training Program. For a complete calendar, please CLICK HERE. The training tracks started with Mat Module 1 and will be followed at the end of March with Mat Module 2. The first training was a great success under the excellent tutelage of Kendel Pink.
   
   
2. LBDC will offer 2 complete training tracks this year and will support the BBU materials with an extension of each module. This extension, titled "The Teaching Edge", will provide each student with the LBDC signature content and quality, by adding an additional day to each module. This day includes practical application and theories of all learned materials in the nurturing LBDC environment.
   
   All students who complete the BBU track through LBDC will receive the same privileges as all LBDC alumni. These privileges are:
   

   • Free Attendance to our Continuing Education through our Professional Mixers at ACBK.
   • Alumni Newsletter
   • Alumni Discounts and Priority Registration for Workshops, including all California Education Connection workshops by LBDC.
   • Year Round Practice Schedule for Students in Training made available at our fully equipped studio in Marina del Rey (ACBK).
   • Priority enrollment in the Master Evolution Series taught by Marie-Jose Blom (After completion of the LBDC for BBU training).
   • Selected, free of charge, re-auditing of Anatomy or Core Intelligence taught by Marie-Jose Blom, by application only.
   • High visibility listing in our Finding My Teacher directory (nominal fees may apply).

Continuing Education & Workshops:

1. A Great Match: As of January 2010, California Education Connection (CEC) has taken over the handling of LBDC's workshops and lecture venues. Via a link on each course calendar listing on the LBDC website, you may click the registration button and automatically connect to CEC.
   
   Both Brian Chevarin from CEC and Wendy Wong (LBDC) will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Brian's service and quick responses to our registrants have been professional and more than efficient. I am thrilled with this collaboration which leaves "no student behind." 2. ANNOUNCING A NEW SmartSpine for Physical Therapist 1-day Workshop! SmartSpine: From Core Ability to Optimal Mobility Introducing a fresh and multidisciplinary approach to "Core Up-training"  This skill specific introduction to the somatic SmartSpine technique gives the therapist practical tools to instruct and teach the patient; tools that allow the therapist to be creative and effective while introducing the feel of the exercise, not just the exercise.
